Obituary
Vincent Dwight Herman, 87, of Earlville, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. He was born on February 20, 1935, at home on the farm near Colesburg, the son of Loren and Sarah (Shaw) Herman. Vince was raised and educated in Earlville.

On July 23, 1957, Vince was united in marriage to Clara “Betty” Werner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville. Four children were born to this union. Vince worked for the City of Earlville for over 30 years, taking care of water, sewer, and the streets. He also drove truck for Helle Transfer.

After his retirement, Vince worked for Duane Robinson Tiling and delivered lumber for Spahn and Rose in Edgewood. He also sharpened chain saws. Vince enjoyed driving for Amish families taking them to their appointments.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Clara “Betty” Herman of Earlville; his four children, David Herman of Littleport, Larry (Kim) Herman of Manchester, Paul (Carolyn) Herman of Dubuque, and Tracy (David) Lewis of Aberdeen, Maryland; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Larry Herman of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Paulette (John) Mueller of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Carol Herman of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rodney Herman; and six sisters, Phyllis Thibadeau, Donna Harris, Virginia “Ginger” Ball, Nancy Herman, Mary “Jackie” Troester, and Janice Klaus.
