JENETTE JESSIE BUSH Cedar Rapids
Jenette Jessie Bush, 100, of Cedar Rapids, died on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie (John) Kreutner; grandchildren, Chad (Jeanne) and Danelle; great-grandchildren, Chance, Wyatt and Piper; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jenette was born on May 19, 1921, in Dundee, Iowa, the daughter of John and Grayce (Harrington) Briggs. She graduated from Winthrop High School, earned her teaching degree from Upper Iowa University and taught in a one-room school house. Jenette married James Bush in 1942, and lived in California from 1944-46 while Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corps in San Francisco and San Diego. They moved back to Cedar Rapids where Jenette worked as a secretary for Collins Radio and temp services. Jenette loved her monthly bridge games with her neighbors, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting items for all of her family and friends. Dancing and music were one of her favorite things, especially tap dancing, playing the piano and saxophone, and big band dances. In her spare time, Jenette took great pride in finishing crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice in Jenette's honor. The family wishes to thank the staff of Evergreen I, St. Luke's UnityPoint Hospital and Hospice, and Dr. Clete Younger for their compassionate care of Jenette.
