An Insane Man takes his Life.
Manchester, July 2.—G. A. Arnold, a prominent farmer of Adams township, poisoned himself by drinking a quantity of aconite yesterday afternoon, from the effects of which he soon died. Arnold has been the victim of temporary periods of insanity for a couple of years past and had threatened to kill himself. During his last aberration a man was employed to watch him, but he eluded the attendant and procuring the bottle of aconite, which had been kept for horse medicine, he went out into a hold
near by and drank it. Medical help was summoned, but without avail. He owned a large farm and had a wife and six children. It is believed that worry over financial difficulties more seriously affected his mind than heretofore.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born July 31, 1862 and died July 1, 1897; however, his gravestone shows his age as 35 years and 11 months. He is buried in Silver Creek Cemetery.
