PETERSBURG, Iowa - Mrs. Elaine H. Goedken, 84, of Petersburg, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at home, following a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg, with the Rev. John O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be the Rosary Society rosary at 3 p.m., and a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

She was born on June 13, 1921, in Bankston, daughter of William G. and Sylvia (Schmitt) Pins.

She married Fred Goedken on Sept. 15, 1949, in Bankston. Fred and Elaine farmed together on the Goedken home farm near Petersburg, until their retirement in 2000.

She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, cooking, canning and gardening. She especially enjoyed her family.

Elaine was a member of the Ss. Peter & Paul Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are her husband, Fred; three daughters, Linda (Steve) Kerper, of New Vienna, Sharon (Mike) Wolfe, of Ryan, and Carmen (Santiago) Sanchez, of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Steve Goedken and Dan (Mary) Goedken, both of Petersburg, and Kevin (Lisa) Goedken, of Worthington; 12 grandchildren, Chris (Danielle) Kerper, of Peosta, Cheri Kerper, of Dubuque, Craig Kerper, of New Vienna, Shawn and Nick Wolfe, both of Cedar Rapids, Tim (special friend, Jennifer Anderson) Wolfe, of Cedar Falls, Kandi Wolfe, of Ames, Jesse Wolfe, of Ryan, Matthew and Amanda Goedken, both of Petersburg, and Ryan and Cody Goedken, of Worthington; two stepgrandchildren, Becky Sanchez, of Minneapolis, and Issac Sanchez, of Dubuque; a great-granddaughter, Elisabeth Kerper; two brothers, Clarence (Catherine) Pins and Lavern (Marcille) Pins, both of Farley; two sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Beyer, of Epworth, and Donna Goerdt, of Dyersville; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eileen Pins and Sister Ivan Goedken, both of Dubuque, John and Mildred Reiter, of Cascade, and Ralph and Carol Goedken, of Alamo, Texas.
