Terry L. Wellman, 59, of Fayette, Iowa, formerly of Earlville, died Sunday morning, January 1, 2006 at his home from cancer.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville. Friends may call after 12:00 noon until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Earlville.

Terry was born September 28, 1946 in Manchester, the son of William J. and Lorraine E. (Lewis) Wellman. He graduated from Moline High School, Moline, Illinois in 1964. Terry joined the United States Army in 1967 and served Vietnam War from 1969-1970. Terry attended Black Hawk College, Southern Illinois University and Upper Iowa University. He began his career in social work in 1973 for the Illinois Department of Public Aid and in the Special Projects Unit in 1980. On May 26, 1979 Terry was united in marriage to Patricia A. Sullivan in Rock Island.

Terry was a former member of the Manchester and Peoria Jaycees, served on the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, Founded the Grundy County Co. Team, served on the Operation Threshold Executive Board of Directors and belonged to the Illinois Caseworkers Association. He played the guitar and harmonica and enjoyed making rock and gem jewelry.

Terry is survived by his wife Patricia Wellman of Fayette; a son, Joseph Wellman of Iowa City; and two sisters, Nancy Bartholomew of East Moline, IL and Julie (Bill) Phelps of Moline, IL; his mother-in-law, Lucille Sullivan of Evansdale, IA; five brothers-in-law; and fourteen nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, William & Lorraine Wellman.
