STATE NEWS

On Friday of last week, as Amos Kenyon, a farmer near Forestville, was driving a quiet, inoffensive cow to Manchester, to the butcher, when near the latter village the cow was assailed by several dogs, became greatly frightened and enraged, and rushed excitedly at everybody and everything she met. Near the Manchester post office, a boy eight or nine years of age, a son of J. H. Peters, was sitting on a horse; the cow made an unexpected dash at the horse, the latter gave a sudden jump, the boy was thrown to the ground, making a serious cut in his upper lip, and bruising him elsewhere. He was taken up insensible, but was finally restored to consciousness, and will probably recover.
