Four Drowned - 1876

On the night of July 20th a pleasure party of six went sailing on the Maquoketa River near Hopkinton. They had gone but a little while when the boat upset and only two young men were saved. Those drowned were Mrs. Martha West, Miss Billings, Miss Hyden and young child.
