Farm Laborer County Home

My Great-Grandfather lived at the Farm Laborer County Home in Eden Iowa. I also see a listing for Decatur County Home in Davis City. The 1920 Census listed him at the Farm Laborer County Home. What I am wondering is why was he placed in the home while being married at the time to Amy Ann Bigley. I cannot find a death certificate or a obituary for him either. Does anyone have a source I can go to to obtain this information? Thanks so much for any information you may have.
