Bobbie Harland "Smokey" Richardson, son of Simeon E. and Nancy [Beck] Richardson, was born February 8, 1931 on a farm two miles east of Davis City, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday February 4, 2007 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. His funeral service was on his 76th birthday.

Smokey, as he was known, began his education at Holden Rural School in Hamilton Township of Decatur County, Iowa. In 1938 after the family farm home burned, they moved to Davis City, Iowa. They later moved to Leon where he graduated from high school in 1949.

Smokey was in the United States Army from January 16, 1951 until January 7, 1954. On July 24, 1954 he married LouEtta Joyce Myers. They lived in Illinois where Smokey was a tool and die worker and then a boiler engineer for Harper College in Palatine. They were parents of four children: Beverly, Bobbie, Nancy, and Tammie. After his retirement in 1898 Smokey moved back home to Davis City.

He enjoyed fishing, picking berries, and watching birds. He was a member of the Masons and served as past Worshipful Master in the Illinois Lodge.

Preceding him in death were his parents; grandson, Daniel Trausch; brothers: Irvin, Sylvia, and Scotty; sister, Dorothy Davis; half brother, John Richardson; half sisters: Vina Wells, Nellie Parkhurst, Mary Zimmerman, and Stella LaFollette; brother-in-law, Paul Robbins; sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Edith Richardson.

Those surviving him are his children: Beverly Richardson-Alvarez of San Diego, CA; Bobbie Richardson of Davis City; Nancy Becker and companion Sam Rosa of Davis city; and Tammie Buscemi and husband Frank of wheeling, IL; grandchildren: Shuleena Alverez, Tyler Alverez; Kyle and Irina Becker, Shane Becker, Kevin and Tara Becker, Emily Rosa; Nicole, Joey, and Sam Buscemi; step-grandchildren: James Britt, Tabby Martin, Tommie Hinds, Ann Britt and Sandra Butler; great grandchildren: Sean and Lean; brother, Max Richardson of Des Moines; sisters: Margaret Robbins of Lamoni, Ruth and Raymond Smith of Ames, Edith and Dale Myers of Moore, OK, and Emma and Leo Thorpe of Lamoni; sisters-in-law, Jane Richardson of Van, TX and Virginia Richardson of Council Bluffs; and other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Dais City, Iowa.
