Paul Harold Percell, age 83, of Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Clifford “Buck” and Laverne (Woodard) Percell, was born June 4, 1934, in Leon, Iowa. He passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, in Lamoni, Iowa.

Paul grew up and attended school in Andover, Missouri. He started farming with his dad and loved farming the rest of his life. He raised crops and livestock, including turkeys. On September 30, 1951, he married Marjorie Estelle Ward. They were blessed with four children, Janet, Michael, Mark, and Peter. Paul farmed and drove a truck, hauling various farm equipment.

On May 30, 1993, he married Donna Mae (Lockard) Matlage in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. His family grew to include her children, Mike, Sue, and Mark. They made their home in Lamoni.

For 13 years Paul hauled mail from Lamoni to Des Moines, Iowa making pickups along the way.

Paul was baptized into the Church of Christ, but was currently a member of Trinity Christian Church at Decatur, Iowa. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family, spoiling the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; step mother, Cecil; brother, Wayne Percell; sons, Mike Percell and Peter Percell and wife, Tammy; and grandson, Tanner Matlage. Survivors include his wife, Donna Percell of Lamoni; children, Janet and Kenny Snethen of Norman, Oklahoma, Mark and Heather Percell of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mike and Michelle Matlage of Winterset, Iowa, Sue and Craig Peters of Glenwood, Iowa, and Mark and Michele Matlage of Murray, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carolyn Percell of Bethany, Missouri; nieces and nephews; his four legged furry pets and constant companions, Molly and Lucy; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Christian Church, Decatur, Iowa, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Burial will be in the Andover Cemetery, Andover, Missouri. Arrangements were through the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Christian Church OR Care Initiatives Hospice in Paul’s memory.
