Rebecca A. Hutchinson was born in Ohio in 1852, and died at her home in Leon, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1913, aged 61 years, 5 months and 13 days.

With her parents [Sanford and Mary (Charlton) Hutchinson] she came to Iowa in 1862 and settled in Woodland township, and had ever since made her home in this country. She was united in married to Mr. Jesse B. Newlin, at Woodland, on March 20, 1872, and a few years later they removed to leon where they made their home until she passed away. To their union were born three children: Mrs. Leoti Hitchcock, of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Letha Butler, of Tacoma, Washington; and Lloyd, whose whereabouts are unknown. Her husband also survives her as well as three brothers: A. W. Hutchinson, of Mount Ayr; Low Hutchinson, of Kansas; and James Hutchinson, of Portland, Oregon. Two sisters also survive her: Mrs. Mary Brown of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Hannah Owens, of southern Missouri.

The deceased was for many years a member of the Leon A. C. church and ardently loved "the faith once delivered to ths saints." Her last illness was one of several months durtion, during which she was a great sufferer, but bore her sufferings with fortitude and patience. She had many dear friends who sincerely mourn her departure.

Funeral services were held at the home in Leon on Sunday, Nov. 3rd, conducted by Rev. H. A. McNitt, interment being in the Leon cemetery.
