Leon, Decatur County, IowaLowell Boyd Schuldt, age 85, of Van Wert, Iowa, the son of Louis and Pearl Blondel (Hatfield) Schuldt, was born August 2, 1932, at Leon, Iowa. He passed away at his home on Friday, March 16, 2018.
Boyd grew up in Iowa’s Clarke and Decatur Counties and attended country schools and Van Wert School. On March 3, 1951, he married June Elaine Brammer. He and Elaine were blessed with two children, Lyle and Cathy.
In earlier years, Boyd worked as a heavy equipment operator on road construction. Later, he raised cattle and hauled cattle for hire. He also maintained the roads in Van Wert for many years. Boyd dearly loved his family; he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, infant Wayne, Layton, Lyman, and Lane; and two sisters, Darlyne Norman and Wanda Schneider.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Elaine Schuldt of Van Wert; son, Lyle Schuldt and friend, Rose Riggs, of Newton, Iowa; daughter, Cathy Schuldt of Van Wert; grandchildren, Selena and Brian Pribyl, Erica and Corey Cook, Cody and Katlynn Schuldt, and Dustin Schuldt; two step grandchildren; four great grandchildren, Cortlynn and Brooklynn Cook and Clara and Kade Schuldt; eight step great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sharon Schuldt of Osceola, Iowa, Wanda Schuldt of Bentonville, Arkansas, Mary Lou Schuldt of Leon, Iowa, and Karen Roberts and husband, Wayne, of Corvalis, Oregon; brother-in-law, Larry Brammer and wife, Peggy, of Highland, Illinois; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, with Pastor Ron Helton officiating. Burial will be in the Van Wert Cemetery, Van Wert, Iowa.
