Donna Irene Swaim, 84, of Martinsburg, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.

Mrs. Swaim was born September 23, 1933 in Martinsburg, Missouri, a daughter of Donald Edward and Goldie Irene (Mitchell) Pearl.

She was a 1951 graduate of Martinsburg High School.

On August 25, 1951 in Benton City, Missouri, she married Willard Mancil “Shorty” Swaim Sr. They shared over 60 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 30, 2012. Shorty and Donna had lived in rural Martinsburg from 1984 – 2008, when they moved to the City of Martinsburg.

Donna had worked at Saffords Shoe Store in Mexico. She was a member of Martinsburg Community Church and the Ladies Aid.

Donna enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts and playing bingo. She also liked gardening and raising flowers. Donna especially loved shopping with her sisters. More than anything, she loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her children and their spouses, Donald Lloyd “Don” and Susan Swaim, of Martinsburg, William Joseph “Joe” and Barb Swaim, of Martinsburg, Linda Louise Sheehan, of Quincy, Illinois and Willard Mancil “Bill” and Karen Swaim Jr., of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren and spouses, Jamie and Brenda Swaim, of Martinsburg, Danny and Beth Swaim, of Martinsburg, Tim and Sara Swaim, of Springfield, Andy and Kristy Swaim, of Laddonia, Brent and Becky Swaim, of New Bloomfield, Josh and Katie Swaim, of Martinsburg, Lynn Rudicil, of Quincy, Illinois and Valerie Finton, of San Diego, California; step-grandchildren, Scott and Lori Dorner, of Davison, Michigan, Aaron and Deidre Dorner, of Mexico and Matt and Jamie Dorner, of Auxvasse; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Robert Joseph “Bob” Pearl and wife, Mary Lou, of Martinsburg, Priscilla Ann “Pat” Stone and Bill Brinegar, of Martinsburg and Francis Louise “Frankie” Stuckenschneider and husband, Pete, of Martinsburg; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin Charles and Diana Swaim, of Martinsburg and Bernice Swaim, of Martinsburg; in addition to several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard Mancil “Shorty” Swaim and brother, James Mitchell Pearl.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Justin Keith officiated. Serving as soloist was Beth Swaim. Organist was Carla Hobbs.

Burial was in Swaim Cemetery, west of Martinsburg. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Andy Swaim, Brent Swaim, Danny Swaim, Jamie Swaim, Josh Swaim and Tim Swaim. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters, Valerie Finton and Lynn Rudicil.

Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
