Mildred Elfrieda Chew died April 7, 2012 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harley Decatur Reeves and Edith Jane Coon Reeves.

Mildred received her early education in Wyoming and later in the Grand River and Murray schools. She was united in marriage to Cecil Montelle Chew on March 8, 1936 at Murray, Iowa and two children, Beverly and Monty L. blessed this union.

Mildred worked alongside her husband on the family farm throughout her lifetime. She also worked for J.C. Penney in Osceola for a time.

She was a member of the Hopeville Ladies Aide; several neighborhood groups with whom she played cards and did various projects. Mildred was always willing to help someone with nearly anything, she loved reading, feeding the birds, cooking and baking as well as piecing quilts, embroidering and gardening.

Those relatives who preceded Mildred in death were her parents; step-mother, Sylvia Metts Reeves, husband, Cecil Montelle Chew, sisters, Dorothy McCutchan and Maxine Reeves, brothers, Cecil Reeves, Harry Reeves, Ross Reeves, Jr. Reeves, Max Reeves and her great-grandson, Cecil Gaddy.
