Rita Rae (Owens) Glenn, age 58, of Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Gordon Eugene and Retha Fern (Maudlin) Owens, was born March 26, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

When Rita was young, the family moved to Leon, Iowa where she attended school. She married Norvan Dennis Johnson. She and Dennis lived outside of Garden Grove, Iowa. Together, they had four children, Jewell, Travis, Robyn, and Angela. On October 5, 1991, Rita married Brian Russell Glenn in Des Moines. Rita worked as a telemarketer before and during the 1990’s. Following the death of her dad, Rita and Brian moved to Leon for several years. In 2003, they moved back to Des Moines.

Rita enjoyed listening to country and Christian music, sitting outside on a warm day, and visiting with friends. She read her Bible when she could. She enjoyed her dogs. She loved to watch the Cowboys play football. She enjoyed getting out for day trips with Brian. She attended Lighthouse Community Church in Des Moines.

Family preceding her in death were her dad, Gordon Owens; and her brother, Dave Owens.

Survivors include her husband, Brian Glenn of Des Moines; children, Jewell and John Johnson of Des Moines, Travis Johnson and Tiffany Oehlert of Woodburn, Iowa, Robyn and Daniel Obazee of Florida, and Angie and Jerry Ruth of Van Wert, Iowa; grandchildren, Javontay Johnson, Keenan Johnson, Madison Johnson, Bryce Johnson, Kadn McNichols, Morgan Carney, Takeisha Johnson, Samuel Hartman, Kolten Johnson, and Emberlyn Ruth; great grandson, Owen; mother, Retha Owens of Leon; siblings, Willard and Linda Owens of Olathe, Kansas and Sherri and Terry Butcher of Leon; sister-in-law, Jennifer of Chariton, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established by the Family.

Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
