Bertha Estella Brown, was born Nov. 29, 1875, and passed away at her home in Decatur, Iowa on Nov 18, 1952. On Nov. 30, 1892 she was united in marriage to John C. Reuss. To this union were born two daughters, who survive. They are Mrs. Ivyl Painter of Red Creek, New York, and Mrs. Lester Painter, of West Burlington, Iowa. Other survivors are one sister, Mrs. Lou Williams of Decatur, two grandchildren; John Painter of Walcott, NY and Mrs. Janet Wollitz of West Burlington, Iowa; also three grandchildren; besides a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, one sister, and one brother.

Mrs. Reuss had lived in or near Decatur during her entire lifetime. She had been a charter member of the Decatur Eastern Star and in early years was active in the lodge. In 1916 she united with the Decatur Methodist church.

Services were held from the Decatur Methodist church, conducted by Rev. George S. Snyder, on Saturday, Nov 22, 1952 at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Decatur Cemetery
