Leon, Decatur County, IowaBobby “Bob” Lee Hill, age 79, of Leon, Iowa, the son of Chester Lloyd and Ora Lavica (Parson) Hill, was born March 4, 1938. He passed away at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa on August 24, 2017.
Bob was born and raised in Decatur County, Iowa. He joined the Marines in 1956, and moved to Camp Pendleton. He was honorably discharged in 1959. While living in California he met his wonderful wife, Margaret Inez Romero. On November 9, 1957, they were married in Vista, California.
Bob and Marge arrived back in Leon, Iowa on April 1, 1959, to settle down and raise two loving daughters, Rhonda and Roxanne. Bob and his brother, Shelby, operated a dairy farm before he began his 35-year career of truck driving. Bob and Marge thoroughly enjoyed living in small town Iowa and raising their family. They were always surrounded by dearly loved nephews, nieces, and cherished friends.
Bob was the most kind-hearted, gentle spirited, loving man. He always went to great lengths to ensure his family was cared for. He loved watching old western movies and also reading western books. Bob would often be found mowing the lawn or working in the yard. Upon retirement Bob and Marge enjoyed traveling to Mohave Valley, Arizona to spend the winters.
He is survived by wife, Marge Hill, of Leon, Iowa; daughters, Rhonda and Vic Senter of Centerville, Iowa and Roxanne and Alan Parker of Colfax, Iowa; grandchildren, David Senter, Daniel Senter, Michael and Katie Senter, Alex and Kalie Parker, and Ben Parker; great grandson, Emerson Parker; sister, Betty Mullins and husband, Don, of Osceola, Iowa; brothers, Shelby Hill and wife, Donna, of Boone, Iowa and Bill Hill and wife, Mary, of Ozark, Missouri; sister-in-law, Louise Hill of Rogers, Arkansas; and numerous relatives.
Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings and their spouses, Gerald and Ruth Hill, Kenneth Hill, Pauline and Delbert Bethards, Arlene and Tommy Rauch, and Ida Mae and Bill Scholl.
Memorial services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2017. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
Memorials may be given to HCI Osceola Team or Journey for Joy Foundation in Bob’s memory.
Memorial services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2017, Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home, Leon, Iowa. Interment was made at Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to Journey for Joy or HCI Osceola Team.
