CURTIS BENNETT
Fresno, CA - Curtis Bennett, 78, died of congestive heart failure on April 29, 2005 in Fresno, CA. A funeral mass was celebrated Thursday, May 5, 2005 a St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fresno, CA. He was born in 1926, in Leon, IA and grew up in Humeston, IA. Curt served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he moved to Des Moines, where he raised four children with his wife, Rosemary. He lived in the Des Moines area until moving to California in 2003. Curt worked at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company for 28 years. He was active in his local union, serving in several capacities, including president. During his union presidency, he oversaw construction of a new union hall. After retiring from Armstrong, Curt was active in the retirement club. He also was a volunteer with Polk County Victim Services for a number of years. Curt liked to hunt and play golf; he enjoyed reading books about history and politics. Curt is survived by his wife; four children; and seven grandchildren, all of whom miss him.
