Leo Kelso Drake, the son of Alfred Hamilton and Ellen Rebecca Wilson Drake, was born December 22, 1903, in Scotland County, Missouri, and died November 11, 1969, at the Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield, Iowa.
On July 5, 1924, he was married to Mary Magdalene Clark. To this union two children were born.
Mr. Drake was preceded in death by his parents and by several several brothers and sisters, Lera Boyer, Eula Drake, Neil Drake, and Oma Porter.
He is survived by his wife, two children, Leo K. Drake, Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee, and Marilyn Jean Schlotter of Memphis, Missouri; a son-in-law, Robert Schlotter, daughter-in-law, Joan Ann Sessoma, Leo Kenneth and Michael Bert Drake, a number of nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
Mr. Drake was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church; the Masonic Lodge, the Order of Eastern Star; the Vice-President of The Farmer's Mutual Insurance Co.; Treasurer, North East Missouri Rural Telephone Co.; Member, Board of Directors, Hannibal Production Credit Association; the United States Representative on the Board of Directors of the World Plowing Organization; served as president of the Scotland Farm Bureau for a number of years, and was affiliated with other organizations.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Memphis, Thursday, November 13, 1969, at 2 p.m. Rev. John Gooch officiated. Masonic services were conducted by the Memphis Lodge No. 16 A.F. & A.M. Marybelle Greeno Accompanied Connie Foss, who sang. Body bearers were Jim Morris, Robert Shanes, Russel Cravens, Don Kroggle, Victor Patton and L.R. (Joe) Jones. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery.
