Roger Coop dies at 46

Roger Lee Coop, 46, died Saturday at 5 p.m. at his home at 505 W. Merrill after a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with Rev. David Kennedy officiating.

The body is being cremated an inurnment of the ashes will be held at a later date at Antioch Cemetery.

Coop was born Feb. 25, 1932 in Jefferson County, the son of Raymond M. and Ferne Godwin Coop. He was reared in the Antioch community, graduating from Fairfield High School and Parsons College.

A carpenter by trade, Coop served in the Korean War. He was married to Donna Davison Aug. 18, 1957.

Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Leigh Ann and Barbara, and three sons: David, John and Jim, all at home. Also surviving are his mother, Ferne Coop, Fairfield; two brothers, Bruce and Bernard Coop, both of Fairfield; and four sisters: Jo Chambers, Packwood; Sharon Smith, Bloomfield; Colee Hospers, Iowa City; and Rose Hendricks, Fairfield.

Coop was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ, the American Legion and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his father.
