CANOGA PARK, Calif. — Jerry Dean Wilcox, 71, died of cardiac arrest Dec. 29, 2015, in Canoga Park.

Jerry “Dean” is survived by his sister, Martha Droz, of Raleigh, N.C.; his brother and wife, Lawrence “Bill” Wilcox and Barbara, of La Crosse, Wis.; and his stepchildren, Sheri and Jim Laws of Reseda, Calif.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Francis, Farrell, Leonard, Loren, and Richard Wilcox; his sisters, Marylin and Doris; as well as his wife, Geraldine.

Jerry “Dean” was born Dec. 11, 1944, in Pulaski, Iowa, to parents Hubert and Lorel Wilcox. He graduated from Davis County Community Senior High School, Class of 1963, in Bloomfield, Iowa. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War as a Fighting Seabee. Honorably discharged as a Petty Officer, he moved to California and accepted a position as a Quality Control Inspector for Eimac, a Varian division, where he worked for more than 40 years.

The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. June 10, 2016, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, in Adel, Iowa. This will be a ceremony that reflects Dean’s military accomplishments as well as his internment with his wife of 34 years, Geraldine, together forever!
