Dallas Co Ancestors

HARDENBROOK, VAN HORN, HARRIS, MORAIN

My grandmother Nevada Sophia Hardenbrook was born 13 Oct 1876 in Minburn,Iowa.Her father was John Huse Hardenbrook born 1847 in Madison,Jefferson Co Ind. and mother Philinda Katherine Montgomery born 1849 in Republic, Jefferson Co Ind. They came by wagon to Dallas Co in 1870 with their oldest daughter Mary [Mollie] who married a Wiley Morain,then had Lewis,Walter,Nevada,Bertha,and twins Maude and May. John was a civil war vet in Union forces. They are related to the Ferris family and Fish family of Dallas Co but dont know connection. Nevada married U.S.Grant Van Horn in 1895 and they moved to Des Moines,Iowa where he opened a optical shop.Bertha and Maude married Harris men from Dallas Co.
