Born in Davenport, Iowa
Resided in Dallas Center, IA

Don, 91, passed into the loving arms of our Lord and awaiting family members on Friday, December 02, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, from pneumonia. With him at the time were his daughter Rhonda and her husband Rick Anderson. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, December 08, at the First Presbyterian Church in Dallas Center, with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery in Dallas Center.

Don retired from DC-Grimes Community School District. He held many interesting jobs during his career and touched so many lives. Everyone loved his sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye.

Don served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of the DC First Presbyterian Church, Hillcrest Golf and Country Club and Delta Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his daughter, Rhonda (Rick) Anderson of Des Moines, his grandchildren, David Anderson, Brent Finger, Jeannie Slack and family, Heather Woodman and family, daughter-in-law Judy Finger, sister Marilyn Valerius and family, sister-in-law Betty Finger and family, many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Edna, son Daniel, daughter Sondra Finger, and his brothers, Leonard and Virgil.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Brandt Chapel where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dallas Center First Presbyterian Church Youth Programs.
