Donald Passed from this life at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center. Don was born in Omaha, NE to Chester Warren and Helen Dorothy (Pickel) Dutcher. He was a 1945 graduate of Omaha Benson High School, where he shined as an All-Star Athlete. Don also was an army veteran of World War II. On June 26, 1948, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joanne Marilyn Swanson in North Platte, NE, where they made their home. Don earned his bachelors degree in education from Doane College in Crete, NE; masters degree from University of Omaha in Omaha, NE; and masters degree specialist from the former Kearney State College in Kearney, NE. For nearly 42 years, he was employed as a teacher, coach and Administrator with the public middle school in North Platte. He was also a member of First Lutheran Church in North Platte. Four years ago, a Scholarship Fund in Don's name was created to benefit junior high students in North Platte and indeed multiple scholarships have been given.

Just three years ago, Don and Joanne moved to Dallas Center. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Joanne Dutcher of Dallas Center; two sons, Jon R. (Susanne) Dutcher of Evanston, IL and Dan D. (Mary) Dutcher of Waukee; two sisters, Eloise Donahoo of Omaha, NE and Dorothy Curtis of California; six grandchildren, Joseph (Tara) Dutcher of Coralville, IA, William Dutcher of Shanghai, China, Thomas Dutcher of Boise, ID, and Erik Dutcher, Anne Dutcher and Kathleen Dutcher all of Waukee; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Atticus; and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded into eternal life by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry Dutcher and Bob Dutcher.

FUNERAL SERVICES 11 am on Monday, January 9, at Lutheran Church of Hope, located at 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service time on Monday. Committal services 2 pm on Monday, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, in Adel, IA. The family has requested that any memorial contributions be made to: Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation; For: Donald L.
