Evona Helen was born in Guthrie County, Iowa on July 2, 1911 to Christopher and Emma (Gabers) Krause and passed away September 6, 1997 at the Community Care Center in Stuart, where she had resided only one day.

She attended country school and graduated from the eighth grade. Evona was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church northwest of Adair, Iowa.

One December 22, 1929 she was married to Arnold William Tibben and they became the parents of three sons. Evona and Arnold farmed in Guthrie and Audubon Counties, then moved to Dallas County. In 1948 they moved to the farm south of Stuart, where she resided until her death.

Evona was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter, LWML and Zion’s Fellowship Club. She belonged to Time Out Club, Garden Club and because of her love for playing cards, she belonged to a Pitch Club. She volunteered at congregate meals at Stuart, enjoyed traveling and loved to be with her children and grandchildren. Evona always remembered each one with a card on their birthdays, even until the time of her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one granddaughter Lorie, a brother Lawrence, and a sister Viola.

Surviving are her sons: Laverne and wife Beverley of Stuart, Merle of Stuart and Leroy and wife Geneen of Dawson; eight grandchildren, Blaine, Brian, Bradley, Roger, Cindy, David, Glenda, and Debra; nine great grandchildren, Allissa, Madison, Oliva, Chris, Clinton, Amy, Randy, Erin, and Paul; other relatives and friends.

Interment was in Dexter Cemetery.
