Jack Jordison, 51, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lutheran Church of Hope, with visitation preceding at 10 a.m.

Jack was born the son of Robert and Rosemary Jordison in Des Moines and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1978 graduate of Hoover High School, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communications from Iowa State University in 1982, and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Jack began his career in advertising as a copywriter, working for a number of advertising agencies in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. In 1991, Jack started his own company, Jordison Writing Services, and was highly recognized in his field.

As a boy, Jack enjoyed scouting, swimming, football, baseball and water polo. He was an avid cyclist his whole life, traveling on many Ragbrai's and experienced a trip across America on his bicycle with friends. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Barb Linford, and enjoyed many years together, giving birth to their son Benjamin Lucas in 2000.

Jack was a devoted husband, father and son. He enjoyed coaching Ben's baseball and flag football teams and he loved spending time with family and friends. Jack always had a kind word to say about everyone. He was very creative and had a great sense of humor with a smile that lit up the room.

Jack is survived by his wife Barb Jordison and son Ben; parents Robert and Rosemary Jordison of Clive; sister Laura Maggio (Matt) of Ft. Dodge and their children Sam, Jack and Kate.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Fred and Laura Jordison and Dwight and Anona Stiles.
