Funeral services for Ferdinand Lahndorf were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 PM from the Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rowe officiating. Mr. Lahndorf died at his home Monday September 24. He had been in ill health for some time.
Pallbearers were Arnold Gallagher, William Gallagher, Merlin Schnoor, Melvin Schnoor, Herman Neuhofel and Ralph Ramsey. Burial was in the Nishnabotna Cemetery.
Ferdinand Jacob, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lahndorf was born in Hayes Township, Crawford County August 17, 1898 and died at the age of 53 years, 1 month and 7 days. His death was caused by cancer.
On September 21, 1929 he was married to Ida Ehlers of Manilla in a ceremony in Harlan and three children were born to this union: Clarice Mae and Billie at home. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Elaine who died 21 March, 1941 and four brothers; Fritz, Pete, Ed and William and a sister Helen and his parents.
Survivors include his wife and two children, three sisters, Clara, Mrs. C.E. Alleman, Perry; Minnie, Mrs. Art Alleman, Benton Harbor, MI, Mrs. Emma Parrish, Marshfield, WI and a brother Henry of Denison; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Lahndorf was a maintenance man for Crawford County for the last 12 years.
