Funeral services were held Wednesday November 7 from the Manilla Methodist Church for Mrs. Josephine Ehlers, who died November 5 at the Saunders Rest Home in Denison.
The services, which were conducted at 2PM, were officiated by the Rev. Richard Rowe. Burial was made in the Nishnabotna Cemetery with the following as Pallbearers: Willie E. Hansen, Alfred Bargenquast, Fred Saunders, Ray Jorgenson, Floyd Grage and Walt Nielson.
Josephine Frederike Krauel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Krauel was born at Guttenburg October 3, 1877 and died November 5 at the age of 79 years 1 month and two days.
October 1, 1897 she was united in marriage to John Ehlers of Denison. Two sons and three daughters were born to this union: William of Denison, Herman of Des Moines, Lilliw Olson, Ida Lahndorf and Marie Terwillerger of Manilla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother. Her husband died October 7, 1953.
She is survived by her five children, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one brother, William Krauel of Moline, Ill., two sisters; Mrs. Augusta Segebart of Manilla and Mrs. Bertha Foderberg of Ames.
Mrs. Ehlers spent most of her life in Crawford County. For several years she and her husband farmed. In 1914 they moved to Manilla.
In 1924 she became a member of the Methodist Church and was an active member in until the time of her death.
