Obituary.

WALL LAKE, June 26—(Special to the Review)—The community was saddened when the news of Mrs. McLaughlin's death was sent out.

Anna Elizabeth Owens was born on Aug. 15, 1851, in Clinton county, Iowa, and died at her home near Wall Lake on June 19, 1916.

When she was two years of age her mother died. In a few years her father remarried and she resided with her father, step-mother and brother until May 26, 1873, when she was united, in marriage to Bernard McLaughlin, of Lyons, to this union six children were born: Mary, who died at the age of five years, Ellen, Susan, James, Mary, Agnes and Lydia. Of these all are at home excepting Susan (Mrs. W. J. Kelly), who lives on a neighboring farm. Besides her husband and five children she leaves to mourn her loss five grandchildren and a brother Peter Owens, of Lyons.

In 1878 the family moved to Sac county, where they reside live miles from Wall Lake. Mrs. McLaughlin has been a semi invalid for many years, but has been a patient sufferer throughout that time never murmuring at her lot. Her courage was almost super-human and she strove valiantly and with remarkable success to make for her family a home in the fullest sense.

The family unity is a marvel to all and shows the fruits of her patient and unselfish suffering. In the words of Father Quensell, who committed her remains to earth, "She has been a good mother, a faithful wife, a patient sufferer and a devout Christian" She was buried from St. Joseph's Catholic church, Wall Lake, on June 21st, and laid to rest in the Wall Lake cemetery and the unusual number of persons in attendance bore silent testimony of the high regard in which she was held by the entire community. The following friends bore her body to its last resting place: Fenton Lawlor, James Duffy, Daniel Murphy, John O'Donnell, Thomas Brogan and Patrick Quinn.

Those present at the funeral from a distance were: Peter Owens, Lyons Mrs.Dougherty and daughter, Elizabeth, Lyons Martin Cunningham, Thompson, HI.
