Adolph or Otto Byer

I am searching for information on the death date of my great grandfather, Adolph or Otto Byer of Clinton County, Iowa. He was listed as Adolph Byer on his marriage and children's birth records, but Otto Byer in other records. Son of Fredrick and Christina Byer of Spring Valley, Clinton, IA. He was born about 1859 and was still alive during the 1920 census. I can find no record of him thereafter or of his death. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
