Does anyone have information on a baby girl born on
August 9 1917 at an Iowa City hospital? I believe
she was left at the hospital in the care of Catholic
Charities and adopted by Charles and Gertude Wise.
The name on her birth certificate is Verda Marie
Mc Devitt, and the mother's name is listed as Marion
Mc Devitt,20 years old, father unknown. The mothers name on the baptismal record is Anna Mc Devitt,but
this may have been a mix-up. We believe she may have been related to someone in Clinton County at the time.
