Edward Leon Williams, 64, of Des Moines, formerly of Clinton, died suddenly Monday afternoon in Marshalltown.

A requiem high funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick's church in Clinton. St. Patrick's parish rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Snyder funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

The body will repose in the Snyder funeral home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Williams was born in Clinton Jan. 13, 1894, the son of the late Maryetta and George L. Williams. He was educated in St. Mary's schools and was a member of St. Mary's church.

He was married to Pearl Theresa Waldorf in 1912 in Clinton. She died in November 1937. He was later married to Ruth Peacock of Belle Plaine, May 10, 1941 in Cameron, Mo.

He was employed at the Chicago and North Western railroad as a brakeman beginning in 1911. A few years later he became a conductor, a position which he held until the time of his death.

He was a member of St. Theresa parish, Holy Name society, Loyal Order of Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Order of Railroad Conductors and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen of Des Moines.

He is survived by his son Edward V. Williams of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his wife Pearl, his parents and one son.

He is also survived by his wife Ruth, of Des Moines; one step-son Jack C. Peacock, Seattle, Wash; five step-daughters Mrs. Dorothy M. Wolf of North Hollywoood, Calif., Mrs. Elvin Hinkle of Des Moines, Mrs. Raymond Rourke of Costa Mesa, Calif., Mrs. John Dirkson, Norwalk, Iowa and Mrs. H Slaymaker, Spencer, Iowa; seven sisters, Mrs. Alice Bach of Clinton, Mrs. Walter (Anna) Tolcyn of Chicago; Mrs. Irene Brown of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Etta Mae Coolman of Davenport, Mrs. Earl (Teddy) Bielema, Fulton, Ill., Mrs. Fred (Margaret)Graham, Billings Mont., Mrs. Forrest (Dorothy) Dirkson of Fulton, Ill., one brother, Carl Williams of Clinton; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
