Lorene A. Wiersema
PORT BYRON, Ill. — Lorene A. Wiersema, 89, of Port Byron, died Tuesday at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Port Byron. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Port Byron. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron.
She was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Lyndon, Ill., to Henry and Helena Myers Thormahlen. She married Clarence Wiersema on April 16, 1938, in Lyndon. He died in 2000.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a volunteer for Project NOW.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Falk of Hillsdale, Ill.; one son, Dale (Dianna) Wiersema of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Henrietta Hanson of DeWitt.
Memorials may be made to the church.
She was preceded in death by one son-in-law and one brother.
