Obituary
Richard “Dick” Bernard Schrader, 89, of Fulton, Illinois, passed away at home on Friday, May 6, 2022. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a funeral service taking place at 11 am on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton). A visitation occurs one hour prior, from 10 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Dick was born November 26, 1932 in Welton, Iowa the son of Carl and Bernadine (Bloom) Schrader. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the U.S.S. Iowa during the Korean War – the war would not separate him from his fellow sailors as he would remain life-long friends with those serving aboard the U.S.S. Iowa from coast-to-coast. Upon returning from active service, Dick worked at Clinton Corn as a Boiler Operator for 15 years. He concluded his career working at East Moline Metal Products after 10 years.

Dick was united in marriage to Shirley Kruse on January 17, 1959 at the Fulton Immanuel Conception Church, of which he and his wife were long-time members.

Dick loved golfing and even helped build the Fulton Country Club. He also loved the outdoors, both hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time tending to his gardens on their acreage. His available time was spent taking the family across the country to see distant relatives in the RV. Above all, he loved his family very much. He had a kind soul and was the friendliest person you’d ever meet and will be incredibly missed by all those whose lives’ he touched.

Dick is survived by his wife Shirley of Fulton; sons Richard "Tom" Jr. (Cinda) Schrader, Joseph (Brenda) Schrader, Mark (Chris) Schrader and one daughter - Julie (Mark) Walker all of Fulton; four Grandchildren - Hayley, Jensen, Jenna and Andrew; brothers - Bill (Carol) Schrader of Charlotte, John Schrader of Clinton, Steve (Carla) Schrader of Camanche; sister - Teresa (Jim) Salsbury of Davenport; three sister in-laws - Gloria, Jane and Kathy; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; four brothers and two sister in-laws.
Memorials made can be directed to the wishes of the family.
