Obituary

Patricia Pitton Cummings, 89, of Fulton, Illinois, passed away at the Alverno on Monday, April, 4, 2022. Funeral services take place at 11 am on Friday, April 8, at the Church of the Open Door. A visitation occurs from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, April 7, at the Church of the Open Door. Burial takes place at Springdale Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Patricia was born February 23, 1933 in Walbridge, Ohio, the daughter of Richard Smith and Mary Newman. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School, Columbus Ohio. Patricia was united in marriage to Joseph Pitton on May 17, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio – Joseph passed away on April, 4, 2004. Later, Patricia married Elmer Cummings on September 6, 2014 at the Church of the Open Door.

Patricia was a woman of faith, attending church at Holy Rosary and St. John Catholic Church in Columbus, Ohio; Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton and the Church of the Open Door, Clinton – always involved in various Church groups.

Volunteering was also very important to her and spanned across various local organizations. She served as President of “Friends for Charity” – serving those in need throughout the surrounding area.

For many years, she worked as a Labor Specialist at Job Service of Iowa, Clinton.

Patricia loved to play games of all kinds, she was very creative and enjoyed working on crafts. She was known for her baked goods that she shared with the Fulton Community. Patricia was a kind and generous soul who loved her friends and family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – she will be incredibly missed.

Patricia is survived by her husband Elmer Cummings of Fulton, children - Michael (Shawn) Pitton of Iowa City, Jon (Deb) Pitton of Minneapolis, MN, Susan (Steve) Korous of Hillsboro, TN, Thomas Pitton of Seattle, WA, Mary (Stephen) Smith of DeSoto, MO and David (Kim) Pitton of Broken Arrow, OK; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren - with one on the way; with several cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Joseph Pitton and one son – Daniel.

In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials can be directed to the Church of the Open Door or to the family to be used towards
