Obituary

Fred Gilbert Horton, 58, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at home on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of his life taking place from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, May 13, at Lemke Funeral Homes — South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr.). Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Fred was born October 19, 1963 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Dale and Doris (Penzkofer) Horton.

He began his career at Ralston-Purina, however later on a disability prevented him from working.

Fred loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, riding motorcycles and boating on the river. He loved his dogs that he had all of his life. Above all he loved his family very much, and will be greatly missed.

Fred is survived by his mother — Doris Mangels of Clinton; two children — Audrey (Tyler) Wahlquist of Foley, AL and Destinee Miracle of Clinton; five grandchildren — Kyng, Cylus, Adeline, and Mellodee; two sisters — Penny (David) Anderson of Clinton and Marguerite (Mike) Dudock of Clinton; one brother — David (Diane) Burmeister of TN; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and other extended family members.
