Janice Fisher, 73, of Davenport, formerly of Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 23, 2022, in her home.

Janice was born March 21, 1948, to Samuel and Helen (Sutton) Orr in Burlington, Iowa. After graduating from Mediapolis High School she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She was married to Robert Fisher, with whom she had two children. They later divorced. Janice taught in the Davenport School District, both full-time and later as a substitute, for over 50 years.

Janice had been a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Grand Mound, where she regularly played organ for the services, was active in the Sunday School program, and served as secretary for the church board. She was currently a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Walcott. Janice loved being a teacher. She was active in the Democratic Party. She loved supporting her grandchildren and traveled all over Iowa to attend their activities.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Ramer of Durant, and Brian (Cynthia) Fisher of DeWitt; grandchildren, Nora Ramer and Douglas Ramer III “Trey,” Caleb and Noah Fisher; her sister, Carolyn (Norm) McElwain; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, in the funeral home, Pastor Denise Anderberg officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Mound.
