Patricia (Pat) Thines, age 86, long-time resident of Preston, Iowa passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at home in the care of her loving family and Jackson County Hospice. A private funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Preston. You may watch from home on the Law-Jones FB Live Group. Pat was born the youngest of five children, August 22, 1934 in Lost Nation, Iowa, the daughter of Leo “Lee” and Viola (Newcomb) Ales. They moved to Preston when she was a teenager, graduating high school with the Class of 1952.

At the age of sixteen, Pat met Cornelius M “Jr” Thines. They were married on September 27, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. They farmed together and in later years ran Thines Trucking.
She enjoyed, cooking, gardening, canning, and sewing. She dearly loved spending precious time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Pat will be dearly missed by her four children, Deb Millwright of Maquoketa, Kathryn Thines of Miles, Paula Thines of Preston, Tom Thines of Miles and daughter in law Marlene Oster of Preston; four grandchildren, Emily (Ryan) Millwright, Kayla (Mike) Millwright, Thomas Nicholas (Renee) Thines and Katrina (Travis) Thines; five great-grandchildren, Hoyt Douglas, Ellie Mae, Tessa, Averie & Emilia; and two sister in-laws, Vennetta Mootz and Eleanor Thines, both of Preston. Special Friends Gina & Butch and Brenda & Scott. Pat is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jr in 1981; two sons, Danny in 1995 and Everett (Ev) in 2020; a son-in-law, Terry Millwright in 2001; and four siblings, Margie Ales, Lee “Bud” Ales, Jr., Peggy Lambert and Jim Ales.
