Margaret J. “Peggy” Behrens, age 88 of Clinton, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Alverno. In following Peggy’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A private Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 13th. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Peggy was born in Clinton on March 7, 1932, the daughter of Marshall and Helen (Moesinger) Marr. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1950. Peggy married Garrett L. Behrens on September 9, 1951 in Clinton. Garrett passed away on August 14, 2017. Peggy had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton and Cherokee Village Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village, AR where she served as church secretary. She was a member of the Eastern Star and she and Garret had been members of the Loyal Order of Moose, Downtown Business Association, and the Elks Club in Cherokee Village. As an artist Peggy not only enjoyed painting but was employed as the window dresser at J. C. Penney. She was also employed as a secretary with the City Administrator’s office and later at Harding School. She and her husband later operated the Clinton Travel Lodge. Peggy’s greatest joy was her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a go getter who enjoyed bowling, following the Iowa Hawkeye’s and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Cubs play. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang with the church choirs, played the piano, and was a member of the Clintones.

Peggy is survived by 2 children; Randy (Mary) Behrens of Clinton and Cindy Lou (Rick) Tomman of Albany; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; her brother, David (Susan) Marr of Olympia, WA; her sister, Vicki (Robert) Evers of Clinton; her sister-in-law, Connie (Richard) Mosher of Fredericksburg, VA and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Joyce and her husband John McCord, and a nephew Kevin Mosher.
