Michelle Kinney, 53, of Dubuque passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at her home.
A Celebration of Michelle’s Life will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lost Nation, Iowa on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. with a visitation from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Lahey and Dawson Funeral Services will be assisting the family at this time. A private family burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lost Nation.
Michelle Catherine Kinney was born on August 25, 1964 to Charles Kinney and Maureen McAuliffe Kinney Rasmussen in Dewitt, Iowa. She graduated from Lost Nation High School. She worked as a waitress for many years. Michelle was a comedian who made everyone laugh and always put everyone’s needs before her own. She was a social butterfly and was very devoted to her faith. She also loved garage sales.
Those left to cherish “Aunt Funny’s” memories are her children Robert and Charles Hancock, 4 grandchildren; Anna Hancock, Dylan Hancock, Jayden Clinton, Adel Dorsey, step-mother Jane Kinney, Lost Nation; four siblings, sister, Joelle Stoddard of Erie, Illinois and her children Zachery (Jessi) Stoddard, Derek (Monica) Stoddard, Nicholas (Kristen) Stoddard, Connie (Mike) Nicholson, sister Charleen (Joe) Kilburg of LaMotte, Iowa and their children; Jade Kilburg and Ryder Kilburg, sister Robbi Haase of Circle Pine, Minnesota and her children; Haley Haase and Hayden Haase, brother Kevin (Janet) Kinney of Cincinnati, Ohio and their children; Joshua Kinney and Jacob Kinney, step-sisters; Kim (Todd) James of Rock City, Illinois and their children Ashleigh Simons, Carver James, Georgia James, Olivia James and Stacy (Ben) Traver of Lowden, Iowa and their children Kaylynn Kessler, KaCee Kessler and Lilly Traver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Kinney and Maureen McAuliffe Kinney Rasmussen.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to her family in her honor or to North Central Iowa Crisis Intervention Service http://www.cishelps.org/donate-and-volunteer
The family is requesting anyone in attendance to her celebration to bring their Michellesque flash of color or bright bling and their favorite punny Michelle jokes and stories.
