William L. Shea, 69, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at his home in rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 A.M., Wednesday, March 9, 2011, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Cremation will follow the visitation. Burial will be at the Busch Cemetery, rural Lost Nation, Iowa.

William L. Shea was born on August 19, 1941 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lionel and Florence (Budde) Shea. He was a 1959 graduate of Elwood High School. He married Dianne L. Holtz on August 25, 1962 in Delmar, Iowa.

William had farmed all of his life on the family farm in rural Maquoketa.

William enjoyed watching his grandkids sporting events and following his favorite teams. He liked the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was an avid lifelong bowler and he also enjoyed golfing.

William is survived by his wife Dianne Shea of Maquoketa, IA; children, Brian (Debra) Shea of Delmar, IA, Suzanne (Kevin) Schrader of DeWitt, IA, and Kathleen (Anthony) Wild of Kalona, IA; 6 grandchildren, Cassandra, Alexander, Kyle, Stephanie, Evan and Ian; and 2 sisters, Ann (John) Wagener of Maquoketa, IA, and Sister Marilyn Shea of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a William L. Shea memorial fund has been established.
