Lawrence W. Fier, 91, of Maquoketa passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa.
His funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 at Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service, Maquoketa. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Lawrence William was born on March 16, 1926 in Sugar Creek, Iowa to Leo and Clara (Holdgrafer) Fier. On April 1, 1948 he was united in marriage to Arlene Lindstrom. Lawrence farmed his entire life and also worked at the Maquoketa Livestock Sales for over 30 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Fr. Loosbrook Council 8269. He spent his time enjoying playing cards, fishing, hunting, and polka dancing.
Those left to cherish his memories are his six children; Linda (Raymond) Peck of Clinton, Gary (Mary) Fier of Clinton, Alfred (Cindy) Fier of Maquoketa, Patrick (Christie) Fier of Maquoketa, Kathy (Donald) Kunde of Maquoketa, Shelley (Joe) Heinrich of Maquoketa, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way, two great-great grandchildren, a sister Marie Berthel of Bellevue, two brothers; Arthur (Gretchen) Fier, Leo Fier and a sister-in-law Pearl Fier.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arlene and two brothers; Robert and Joseph.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Jackson County and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in his honor.
