Marilyn M. Skiff, 77, of Clinton, Iowa, died Thursday, August 23, 2007, in Clinton.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 27, 2007, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul Holmer officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Skiff, Michael Griswold, Tanner Skiff, Randy Hensel, Justin Meyer, Tony Cooley, Dale Marr, and Brian Marr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kristi Cooley, Kelly Griswold, Jami Skiff, Angie Skiff, Nikki Byrns, Donna Jean Holste, and Michael Henricksen. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.

Marilyn was born April 9, 1930, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of George E. Jr. and Mildred (Runquist) Marr. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. She married La Verne B. Skiff on October 15, 1950, in Clinton; he later died May 31, 1985.

La Verne and Marilyn managed a grocery store for five years when they were first married; then farmed on the Elvira Road for several years. Marilyn was employed at Medical Associates as a receptionist, as a payroll clerk at the Clinton Garment Factory, St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport as an emergency room secretary and Job Service of Iowa for 13 years from where she retired in 1991.

Marilyn was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She served as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the Immanuel Girl's Choir and the Senior Immanuel Lutheran Church Choir, and a member of Immanuel Luther League. She was a member of the Moose Lodge Chapter 474 since 1973, AMVETS Auxiliary 28, and a member of the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees, being elected as secretary of the group in November 2003. She was the chairperson for the Longfellow Grade School reunions held twice a year taking that position in August 1999.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Janet Griswold; two sons, Richard (Pamela) Skiff and Keith (Carol) Skiff; three grandsons: Eric Skiff, Michael (Amber Hein) Griswold, and Tanner Skiff; five granddaughters, Kristi (Tony) Cooley, Kelly (Randy Hensel) Griswold, Jami (Justin) Meyer, Angie Skiff, and Nikki (Chris) Byrns; three great-grandsons, Andrew Cooley, Brian Joseph Cooley, and Mason Byrns; one brother, David (Georgene) Marr, of Michigan Center, Michigan; and three sisters-in-law, Carole Marr, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Arthera Skiff, of Clinton, and Barb (Jack) Quaintance, of Clinton.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Allan Marr, and son-in-law, Brian Griswold.
