From the Linn County Register published in Marion, IA Saturday August 24th, 1861
MR. COON living near Wheatland, Clinton County, was bitten by a mad-dog, about nine years ago, and as supposed, completely cured. During the hot weather, three weeks ago, he became over-tasked, which brought on the fatal disease, hydrophobia, from which he soon died.
