DEATH OF YOUNG GIRL IS CAUSED BY APPENDICITIS

Grand Mound, Iowa, Jan. 3 -- A pall of gloom overshadowed the holiday festivities here when it was learned that Ida, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L Hahn had passed away at her home one mile south of town, she having undergone an operation for appendicitis Thursday night. Death followed Friday afternoon, despite all that the best medical aid could do for her.

She was a most accomplished young lady, having passed her 17th birthday on Wednesday last, and by her amiable disposition and winning manner sche [sic] had endeared herself to a large circle of friends, in which her presence will be greatly missed.

Surviving her are her sorrowing parents, four brothers, John, Martin, Albert and Harry, and sisters, Mrs. Edward Green, Mrs. Edmund Farrett, and Mrs. Daniel Epping, all of whom were present at the funeral, which was held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Philip and James church, Rev. D. J. Riordan officiating. Interment followed at Calvary cemetery. The following friends acted as pallbearers: Lee Voss, Wm. Green, Wilfred Ranson, Elmer Hasenmiller, Bernard and Francis Mackin. Sympathy of the entire community goes forth to the bereaved relatives.
