PETITION FOR DIVORCE

Through her attorneys, Walsh Bros., Maggie Hagan of this city yesterday filed a petition in the district court asking a divorce from John Hagan. The parties in this action were married in Wheatland April 18, 1871, since which time they have lived together as husband and wife until June, 1891.

The petitioner alleges that Hagan has become addicted to habitual drunkenness, and has absolutely failed to furnish any means of support for his wife for several years, and he has been guilty of such cruel and inhuman treatment as to endanger her life.

Mrs. Hagan states that in the month of June last her husband assaulted her with a carving knife and threatened to take her life, and at other times he had struck and bruised her.

Four children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Hagan as an issue of their marriage – Henry, Louis, Christine and Alvina, ages respectively 19, 16, 15 and 13 years. John Hagan, the defendant, has absconded and has deserted his wife and children, and Mrs. Hagan asks a decree of divorce and custody of minor children.
