Halvorson, John 1832 - 1889

Elkader Register, Thur., 08 Aug. 1889.

Last week we made note of the serious illness of John Halvorson, of this township, caused by a stoke of paralysis. He laid in an unconscious state until Sunday, when he breathed his last.

Mr. Halvorson was born in Norway, April 01st, 1832, consequently he was 57 years at the time of his death. He was married in that country in 1852, and came to America in 1867, first landing in Canada, but soon afterward came to Clayton county, locating on the farm in Boardman township, where he died. His aged wife and eleven children are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and indulgent father. The funeral took place Tuesday and was largely attended.
