THE McGregor papers contain long and quite tender obituaries of E. R. Barron who died at LaCrosse on the 23d. From 1856 to 1886 he was identified with the commercial interests of the Pocket City, and the firm of E. R. Barron & Co. was not only widely known but was a synonym for integrity and fair dealing. All who knew him recognized his worth as a citizen and his honor as a business man. Ten years ago he sought a larger field of activity and went to LaCrosse and engaged in wholesale merchandising, but he retained an intimate relation to his old home. Death came to him very suddenly from heart weakness, leaving no immediate representative. His brother C. H. Barron still resides in McGregor. The remains were taken to New Hampshire for burial beside those of his wife and only child.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he died in 1887; however, the gravestone clearly shows 1897. He was born in 1818 and is buried in the New Hampton Village Cemetery in New Hampshire.
