Clayton County Register, Thur., 08 Aug. 1929. Volga column.

Cecelia Probert, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Probert, was born at Muirkirk, Ayreshire, Scotland, on September 25, 1842, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marion Glasgow, at Garden City, Kansas, July 30, 1929, aged 87 years. When a child of eight years, she came to America with her brother, Richard Probert, with whom she made her home after the death of her parents in Scotland. For the first few years they resided in Pittsburg, Penn., after which they came to live in Highland township, Clayton Co., Iowa. On May 1st, 1868, she was united in marriage with William Duff of Highland township. To this union were born nine children, William, Janet, Mrs. Marion Glasgow, Garden City, Kansas, Robert, John, Mrs. Isabella Kunzman, Albert and Mrs. Mary Kunzman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wm. Duff, and two sons, William, aged four years, and George, aged fifteen years.

At an early age she gave her heart to God; her entire life was consecrated to the Master. She was ever willing to lend a helping hand to friend and neighbor in times of health or sickness. Her calm Christian presence gave comfort to many crossing over the boarder to the better land. She leaves to mourn her passing, seven children, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Aug. 4. Rev. Chamberlain officiated. Interment was made in Hill Crest cemetery. There was an abundance of beautiful flowers. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of a entire neighborhood.
