Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 18 May 1916. Guttenberg column.

On Sunday, May 7th, 1916, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Biedermann, in this city, occurred the death of Mrs. Edward DeSotel, nee Elizabeth Maria Magdaline Biedermann, after a lingering illness, and at the age of 23 years, 9 months and 25 days. Deceased was born at Garnavillo, Iowa, on July 12th, 1892, and later came to Guttenberg with her parents. On April 30th, 1912, she was married at Guttenberg to Mr. Edward DeSotel. For a time the couple made their home on a farm. She had been ailing for some time, and all that loving hands and medical knowledge could do was done for her to ward off death, but all failed, and on Sunday the Angel of Death called her to the Great Beyond. She was a patient sufferer and was a kind and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, always ready with heart and hand to do kind acts for others, which won her many friends during her life. She was also a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church of this city, and was confirmed at Guttenberg on March 24th, 1907. Her untimely death is deeply mourned by her husband, one son, two years of age, her parents, three sisters, three brothers and a large number of relatives and friends, by whom she will be sadly missed. During her illness she made her home with her parents. Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church in this city on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Janzig officiating. Interment was made in the City Cemetery. The funeral was largely attended.
